It's annoying that south east asia has a connotation as a sex tourism place when it is really just an objectively nice place to travel.

I would go to Thailand every year just to sip maitais on the beach and travel around the different islands but I'd look like a sex tourist

Not as a sexpat thing, more like an economymaxxing thing. I think Thailand and SEA is probably the region with the most economic growth right now, living in a country with a bright future, authoritarian government but liberal laws, new world class infrastructure being built every day, great weather, etc. Would feel so much better than living in a dying nation like the USA.
