I think all gaming companies/devs should follow what John Carmack did with his games by releasing the source code and sdk for most of early ID software games. It should have been a gold standard on dealing with EoL/S games. You can still buy the game and own it, while also having the ability to mod and setup community servers. Why would anyone defend corporations or greedy devs at all in this discussion? It's not like these corporations or greedy devsare going to compensate for your loyalty to them.

It's because every company I respect gets ruined by pay piggies throwing money at everything. I'm trying to hold to my standards but there's literally nothing I can do because "voting with my wallet" doesn't work.
