06 wasn't a reset. It was just extrapolating where Sonic Heroes and Shadow left off.
I'm talking about a reset on a level like what happened with Archie, where all the characters can be rewritten into a different situation and have a different modus operandi.
Knuckles needs to get out of his role as the ME's permanent guardian. Tails needs to get off of Sonic's dick and actually have a character that isn't "Sonic's cocksleeve". Amy needs a complete overhaul due to her old personality not meshing well with today's culture and her current one is Mary Stu the Hedgehog. Shadow needs to fuck off from this franchise entirely outside of shout outs and short cameos, this I am 100% convinced on because every time the franchise tries to focus on him again, everything goes to shit. ST needs to decide if they want Rouge around or not because if they don't then they need to just remove her instead of twisting both her design and character around so much to try and please stupid censorship laws. Blaze needs to not be from a different dimension so that it's not ridiculously hard to justify putting her into any plot.
Every other character has simply just not had enough screen time in the past decade to even humor their old personalities or have just been MIA for that fucking long. You notice how Fang fans never get into arguments or spats with others due to OOC and mischaracterizations? That's because he's been out of the lime light for so long that no one needs to justify a new personality or character for him.
