It's a late-1990s' game.
That is THE Soul-maxxing era of vidya.
Sorry that you were not born back yet.

I agree with you, 100%. I adore classic RE and classic SH, and I still replay both of their trilogies from time to time.

I still find something good fun to play and enjoy every passing year, but more often than not, they evoke a similar feeling and vibe as the "golden age" of gaming around the late-90s and early-00s did (for ex: Yakuza 0, Nier Automata, Talos Principle, Signalis, Deep Rock Galactic...) . Sometimes, said games ARE from that era, but I just never played them when they were new (ie. System Shock 2, Thief, Banjo-Kazooie, BLOOD, Fatal Frame....)

The thing is, the industry has quietly changed its skin and tone at least twice since the Y2K. And it's just mindboggling to try to engage with the younger GenZ (and even GenA) gamer kids these days, who do not understand any of the valid, often over-detailed criticism towards all these modern remakes / reboots / spinoff sequels to the old classics.

The grimmest side effect of this modern de-make boom still is the fact that they are essentially erasing the OG games, especially on internet algorithms. Pair this with the fact that many of the OGs are literally not available (legally) on modern platforms, and you see more and more newbies just pick the latest 80 dollar UE5 woke over-shoulder actiongame remake, never having touched the OG.
