Sonic's built this weird consoomer cult in the fandom now where they must absolutely pretend the sloppiest slop to ever been slopped is amazing and "peak" for doing nothing and you're not allowed to dislike it or you're not part of the fandom, it's like the total opposite of the old fandom.
Seems to me they got this way out of jealousy for Dragon Ball and One Piece and other Shonen Anime fandoms on twitter. They want to emulate that fanspace so bad that they'll yell the same things over two pngs just standing in space

Critically nowadays is more nuanced. Some fandoms will absolutely dogpile a movie with positive reviews just because it’s part of their cult fandom to call it “peak” even if it was shit. In cases like that movie critics are a lot less biased. In Sonic 3’s case critics were more fair and pointed out things like its weak story, constant mcu quips and how Tails didn’t do anything.
