Herbert's prose is genuinely horrid. LotR is the same way, dry ass writing

I haven't seen the movies or read the books, but now I'm interested. Are all the books worth reading or is there a point I should stop at? Are all the ones by Frank Herbert himself worth reading, I know his son or whatever wrote like 20 more
