It is much easier to hide from thermals in the city, although the level and nature of human interaction in a post-collapse major city would be a stratospherically ugly urban combat catastrophe just waiting to happen.

3. Thermal surveillance and counter-surveillance methods
4. Work with neighbors to set up substantial perimeter defenses and ease logistical issues
5. Anyone that's underprepped needs loaner gear in exchange for work
6. Figure out protection against the full four-flavor spectrum. NIR (NV), LWIR (thermal), SWIR, and MWIR.
