Yes. They were mindless fun and a neat simulation of the DBZ fighting style.
>Various forms from each arc
>Plenty of nods with certain characters (all tailed saiyans get to transform under a full moon, androids can't charge KI, characters with scouters can't lock-on to you if they lose it,etc)
>Main characters alongside the supporting cast alongside the villains of each respective arc atop the movie villains and even anime-exclusive characters alongside oddballs like the Saibamen, Hirudegarn and Nam
>Potara skills let you buff a character or balance a character out
It was a virtual action figure game and that's all it needed to be.
And yes Sparking Zero missed the point

Easy: They spent two years to build up the game, from polishing the gameplay, the visuals and the roster. It was also a nice way to allow lesser characters a chance to shine and they weren't just adding shit to add it, there were neat touches with each character.
>Super Trunks can power down to Normal Trunks and keep his extra health bar
>Every tailed saiyan can transform into an Oozaru with their own features (King Vegeta keeps his beard, Raditz has his long hair, etc.)
>Androids can't charge their Ki
>Every character has a unique reaction to Devilman's beam
Just to name a few. The roster was also unapologetic with who it added, Dragon Ball was already finished and didn't have an ongoing series specifically made to sell recolors so you didn't have to worry about shill picks, it was pure fanservice and there was still room for a lot more. I remember all the speculation about Tenkaichi 4 and all the obscure reps that weren't added yet.

Pic related was right out the box. People are still coping for the missing reps to be sold back to them for money. The game was also not played competitively, it was just a virtual toybox and should have remained that.
