Literally everyone, including the Japanese media, was open about the fact that Montjeu lost to Spe because it was jetlagged and wasn't used to the Japanese turf. It's equivalent to me beating Lebron in basketball while he's on three hours of sleep and feels nauseous. There's a reason that El Condor Pasa is remembered as one of the strongest Japanese race-horses ever, and Special Week isn't.

They hated chestnut horses, randomly turned on their childhood friend Grass Wonder and were incredibly resistant to mating unless it was Mejiro Dober. Weren't very nice to other horses in general.
