aerospray kinda sucks in turf because it struggles to challenge other weapons, everyone is spread out so it can't rely on numbers advantage or ongoing kerfuffle, and big slow weapons that it actually does decently against in 1v1s are nearly non-existent in tw
turf needs something that can flip you a bird and forcibly appropriate your shit in the last 20 seconds, something with breakthrough potential, not something that just keeps doing picrelated for most of the match and deflates in those last 20 seconds
meanwhile, aero really wants an objective that other players congregate around to function, so it's at its best in turf-heavy ranked modes- rm and cb

>Appealing nautical radicool art direction
>Tight and fast simple-to-understand gameplay that can appeal to baby casuals as much as sweaty tryhards
>Good, unique music
>Interesting world building, ranging from the war of squid and octo societies to how the music you hear ingame is also music your character is listening to during the battle made by a variety of in-universe bands
The first game especially felt like the devs asked themselves first and foremost "what would be the most FUN?" and went ham. Stuff like the UI is a little rough around the edges now that I look back at it, but overall it was truly FRESH
