You would have to be blind to not see that this game is a stepping stone for the next generation of Fromsoft employees. They shipped a game that runs well and is pretty fun while using existing assets and adding in their own. The Nightlords feel polished and made for this type of game compared to Elden Ring and they leaned into letting players try out the hundreds of weapons someone painstakingly modelled.
I have to imagine at least some fraction of the playerbase did nightreign as their first souls game due to the friends aspect.
Sure it's not perfect but it's more than just fine.
