No. Just no. None of the encounters were well designed, none of the combat was memorable, it was either a slog or super trivial depending on how fast you got your character rolling.

Yeah this was good, solid encounter design, some really fun fights, the only real problem with it is that Mages were just too powerful and if you knew how to use them the game became a joke. Still good stuff though.

Because it's the truth. I had way more fun building my characters and doing combat in just about every JRPG I've played than I've had in any Western CRPG in the last ten-fifteen years, bar Larian games.
Also, I've got to go after this post, but I would like to finalize all of this by saying you 100% completely proved my initial point by every single western CRPG you listed as being good, even combat wise, was at LEAST a decade old, and generally quite a bit older than that. You can't give modern examples of good western CRPGs because there are none, and you know it. Every western CRPG fan is just a grognard holding on to the memories of older, better games that no longer exist. All that's left now is shoddy copies of those games, and half the time they're filled with woke faggotry on top of it, and yet you guys still defend western CRPGs as somehow being worth the time. Baffling.

With that mindset there's no point in creating choice & consequence games with myriad roles in the first place, and every CRPG should just copy the JRPG formula where the story and character selection is static so all content can be developed for that path alone, thus no content is wasted.
