The fromsoft pipeline goes from more level, less boss to less level, more boss and it goes linear from Demon's Souls all the way to Elden Ring. Their releases also got worse as time went on in things such as charm, mysticism, world building, lore and in turn they injected more combat into the design.

In Ds1 you can roll about three times with your spawn endurance and enemies have about 3 hit combos. In Elden Ring you can roll 3x the amount so the boss combos are 3x as long. In my opinion this just makes the game more about learning when to press your iframe button, which just goes to show that the combat system of fromsoft's soulslikes is rather shallow when taken to the extreme. Their older games have "worse" combat but also rely way less on it, allowing the game to shine in the other aspects which I mentioned earlier. That being said, even the later releases that I personally dislike are top tier when compared to the rest of the gaming industry.

Also Bloodborne and Sekiro get a pass because they actually did something other than regurtitating the same old shit since 2009.
