So here is the thing, they are paying them to be the default, not keep out competition.
When I use a browser, I change the default search cause google went to shit and I'm not retarded so I have mixed feelings on this.
>Firefox has gone full retard a few times
>Their lax standards of plug-ins has lead to security nightmares
>Their new profit plan is fucking evil but is the current model of every other browser(selling your browser data), and pivoting to an activist organization rather than a company is a problem.
I don't like that they are completely reliant on Google giving them money, but taking this away leads to a bigger monopoly... Chromium, edge and Opera (closed source) being the only browsers with Chrome having the monopoly share and being purchased by Microsoft to train AI.
It seems like this move is a push for MORE monopolization, not less. It could easily be solved with upon install allowing a screen that lets you select your search with companies paying for favorable positioning/details at that screen.
>Mozilla has more revenue sources to keep to company values.
>Not moving to data collection keeps them competitive.
Want a conspiracy theory? This is being done on purpose for AI. The US wants full massive data training sets to compete in this space and do mass scale warentless data collection.
They want full on chromium and microsoft monopolies.
The only thing that will change this attitude with our gay retarded government is when data brokers are turned on then to expose them (like Epstien visitors being exposed from data location data brokers.
