Maybe it's the :3 face that makes it look weird for you guys, the Burial vision CG and the one with the gum? I do see that the skeletal structure for that would make no sense and it's too prognathic for a Caucasoid- when I specifically think about it, but it doesn't tick my instinct to say "wow that looks odd" automatically. And I'm saying this as one of the artfags of this general myself.

I agree. But she has very clearly avoided to improve some aspects of her abilities lol, that's why all the CGs have the same pose like a cartoon and the trinket is levitating over Ashley's hand. And how their little tiny ass noses are visible from behind kek. If she studies depth and dimension a little she can fix it easily. There are already some instances like pic related where she gets it just to give an example.
