I haven't thought about it much so here's what I've come up with just now.

The Wobbies wage the Jihad as a clandestine insurgency and politically machiavellian scheme designed to weaken the House Lords against Clan incursions, even by posing as Clanners themselves. They then publicly come to the aid of the House Lords with their superior tech once the Clans push their advantage. This continues until each side is weakened, however long it takes; the Clans by their aggression, the Lords by their pride. In their eyes it would be a just punishment on the latter for abandoning the Second Star League. The destruction is widespread but not as crippling due to lack of orbital bombardments, but that will change.

The Wobbies spur the creation of the Republic of the Sphere as a coalition to counter the threat of the Clans against Terra with themselves at its head. This (re)fulfills their prophecy of coming to power and expands their legitimate territory. The Blackout still occurs but it's also a conspiracy by the Wobbies to systematically cripple everyone in the Inner Sphere while their own hidden HPGs and worlds continue to function. While the Blackout is ongoing they begin destroying key House facilities and stage invasions, safe in the knowledge that the affected planets are isolated. By the time everyone's figured it out, the Wobbies are all but unassailable and the House Lords don't have the power to challenge them.

Then we get the big Clanner vs Wobbie showdown with both sides having IS auxiliaries. Clan Jade Falcon and Clan Wolf, once bitter enemies, form an uneasy alliance to strike against Terra while the other Clans either struggle against Wobbie aggression, leave the IS, or watch in the background. Does the alliance hold with the jewel of Terra in their sights? Do the Wobbies strike and destroy them both ? Do they get struck down only for the Wolves and Falcons to turn on each other? Any of those sound much better than what has canonically occurred.
