e.g. 満面の笑顔 (both 面 and 顔 mean "face" - the correct way to say this is 満面の笑み) or 満天の星空 (天 and 空 both mean sky - the correct way to say this is 満天の星). Rather than rendering these as what the author "meant" the translator should be rendering it precisely as it is written on the page, or as close as English permits.
