Honestly, threads like this I feel are ultimately beneficial to society. There’s a lot of stupid ways to die that the majority of people just can’t even begin to imagine. Joking about gruesome deaths is a good way to keep people on their toes about it. If we just went “hey, man, remember that dude that died? yeah, that kinda sucked huh?” nobody would care and nobody would learn. But because we’re approaching this case from a comedic angle, the people just finding out about it lower their guard and are more open to understanding what exactly happened and (hopefully) how not to end up in the same situation themselves. For example, I can’t handle rekt/gore threads because I’m just too queasy when it comes to the human body. But I can go through the “Take a bump” threads on /pw/ just fine since the threads embody a humorous and ironic tone based on /pw/‘s “board culture”. I’ve seen so much stupid shit people have done to their bodies and learned a thing or two from them. Another example is Final Destination, did you notice that you stopped tailgating semitrailers after watching that one scene on the highway with the cop drinking coffee?
