Nah not really. Yeah you want profits and such but there had been a long tradition of "the family business" where parents would bring their kids into the fold of their successful business and then those kids would bring in their kids etc. you own a massively profitable company you hand it over to your kids when you retire etc.
Yeah sometimes this ended up with the kid running it into the ground or something but this is different...this is the business builders themselves imploding it. Selling it all out. Leaving nothing for their offspring sometimes making a point of it.
Let me put it another way.
Imagine a king selling out his lands to foreigners and plundering his peasants and any nobles of his court weak enough to be plundered in a mad dash to sit on a pile of gold before he dies and basically leaving the problems of a broken kingdom to his kid that will most certainly be killed by the peasants and the king knows this is what will happen and he does it anyway.
People used to want to set up dynasties and legacies now all they want is to have the most stuff before they die.

The most logical thing is yourself and your interests first.
It is a failing of the society around you that your interests do not include the betterment of others and the society around you.
In current western society under this nepotistic corpo-socialist state there is no reward, that is to say no incentive, for doing anything for others and the community around you. In fact good deeds seem to be harshly punished in one way or another.

Now all of that just addresses the material reality.
