Amy's consistently been a Speed character since Heroes (SA2 if you count battle mode, but Advance 1 dipped her into a more SA1 playstyle).

Since trios gotta be 2 guys 1 girl, Amy would be the best fit to stand alongside Sonic and Shadow. Blaze would've worked had the main 2 been Sonic and Knuckles like the old days, but nah. Sonic and Shadow, so it's gotta be Amy.
