With any of the 400 gn or lighter rounds it really isn’t too bad in my opinion, the brake does an amazing amount of work.. it’s a night and day difference comparing it to how it shot with 500 mag before I converted it. This video was my attempt at a side by side comparison, both shots are a 600 gn +p 500 magnum round in slow motion, you can really get a feel for how much the brake tames it down. For 500 bushwacker even though it’s got more force than 500 mag, it’s got a lot more gas for the brake to affect.. however as you get into heavier bullets the brake is less effective.

I don’t use gloves, but I’m also pretty used to the shock from big bore stuff, if your not then they’ll help with some of the sting..

I think a compensator for most guns is a bandaid on a skill issue. Your better off spending the money buying ammo and practicing for the recoil on a lot of things than trying to add equipment to deal with it.

There are a few cases where a compensator or brake makes sense.. but they’re generally edge cases and had a bit more thought put into them than “let’s slap a comp on it..”
