Parents are dead, it’s ambiguous if Lumi killed them or if they suffered an accident. Just that Lumi ended up as Starbro’s legal guardian. As for when Starbro started cutting himself, probably a few months after living with Lumi, when dealing with the sexual, emotional and psychological abuse became too much and wanted it to end.
