Was Halo considered impressive for 2001? The god rays through the pine trees in Halo 1 is still better looking than the same effect pulled off today. It’s ridiculous.

For anyone who isn’t aware, load up Halo 1, go to level “Halo”, and move Chief and the camera while looking at the sun through a tree. It was an insane attention to detail in 2001 and still looks amazing.
