Ah, the classic geobible. I have one and every geologist I know has one, in fact it was one of the first geology related books I picked up. I don't really use it for rock/mineral ID like I would use a mycology book for mushroom ID for a variety of reasons but it is still a good resource with a lot of interesting information and some wonderful illustrations-- too wonderful. You will rarely find samples that look that good in the field which makes it ironically somewhat challenging to use as a resource for identification. Regardless it is still a good starting point for any aspiring rock hound! I highly recommend it if you are actually interested in rocks and minerals are not here solely for nagi's thick thighs and massive titties.
