What I think happened:

>Reggie took a lot of shit internally for Wii U marketing from american investors
>He feels afraid of Switch's momentum that he may end up holding it back
>Doug is making "talented" decisions about business and finances
>Reggie quits as he feels it's not his Nintendo anymore
>New Tone at the Top respects Shinya Takahashi as the General Manager of dev studios, but increasingly brings up business-smart ideas to him
>Shinya feels the Tone at the Top
>Brings ideas to the devs on the ground floor
>They're mandated to make expected slop

But at the back of his mind, he knows all is being encroached by this new techno-pumping corporate style, that is best exemplified in the Switch 2 Tour game, or the new pricing models, or how they're taking away Copyrighted problems and locking them into services that belong to NSO instead of Spotify where music normally goes.
You can IMO just tell that Nintendo is now a very very different corporation than just 10 years ago.
