Webp seems to be insanely controversial these days mostly because of things like jpegli which is why there's probably so much resistance toward adoption of it.

That's one key aspect that a lot of online Webp vs JPG comparisons never show you.

Anybody else have anymore cool image codec comparisons like this where you see many quality levels being tested and get access to the files to inspect yourself? Also how do you use jpegli on windows? I don't see it as an option in GIMP and I'm not good at CLI.

jpegli hasn't been widely adopted yet so practically speaking webp is still a huge upgrade until that happens.

What makes you think jpegli won't be another mozjpeg failure?

It will really ruffle feathers because of picrel. What doesn't seem to be clear is whether jpegli will actually gain any widespread support. We all know mozjpeg bombed comically hard so maybe history repeats itself?
