Why is no-one discussing the payment processor mafia and the potential for Steam, itch.io to use crypto instead? Don’t these people want to retain their customer base, expand game library, and gain independence?
Jack Dorsey has some sort of crypto payment processor IIRC. Anyone knows if that could be resistant to this type of censorship, or is it already liable to similar acts since it’s owned by him?
Ideally you would have all the prices displayed in your local currency and the crypto you would pay would be set to that currency amount at point of sale.
They could use XMR as it has a very low fee rate and is relatively stable.
The general issue is the potential fees with crypto in general, but XMR has very low fees at least now, and the transactions are comparatively anonymous.
It’s baffling to me how we let ourselves get raped by these scumbags on a daily basis, we outnumber these moralizing scumbags and yet they have such leverage over our daily lives. At what point do we put our foot own on these people’s necks? Can we only rely on senile senators to compete with obsessed millennial wackos?
Steam and itch.io could actually make this very simple >if your game doesn’t conform to the mafia Terms of service, you can take crypto payments only, which are subject to less strict Terms of service
What objections could they have to this? The payment processors could say they are not processing the transactions and thus hold no responsibility. The people could deal with the crypto payments if they really want their “problematic” games. It’s a win-win situation.

>Get Steam to buy Atlyss to play it online with friends.
>Steam launches every time I start my PC
>Had to go into task manager, autostart and disable Steam from autostarting.
>Open the game EXE.
>Steam starts again.
>Runs in the background the entire time doing fuck who knows what.
>Keeps giving me notifications about what my friends are playing even though I do not care.
>The only way to close it is going into task manager, searching steam and force quitting it.
>Also I can't right click the desktop icon and "go to file path", but I need to manually go into Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common to go into the game files.

>Meanwhile all my pirated games just work when I double click the exe without running anything in the background.

Pirated games are unironically more user friendly, easy to install and use and overall less stressful than buying the games on Steam.
Why should I pay for a worse version of the game.
