Game's okay. Not spectacular, but fine.
I think it's true that Remedy's never really been a big gameplay studio, they're more about vibes and storytelling and you can feel that here. It feels pretty simple so far, I like how the tools interact with one another but so far the basic game has just been
>shoot everything with my revolver that kills everything in a hit unless it's a big special hiss
>run around looking for an objective you have to collect or complete
>repeat in the next area
>run back to the start and finish
Some of the critiques like "it gets way too hard too fast" or "enemies aren't fun to shoot" haven't really rung true to me. I haven't touched extreme yet but hard has felt easy and forgiving. I kinda like blasting the spastic flying enemies out of the sky, myself. I was also hoping the mechanics would be a bit more raid-y and they haven't at all so far, but maybe that could change a little at max difficulty with modifiers turned on.
I guess in one way it does remind me of Concord is that it feels kind of like a relic. Co-op games like Nightreign and Helldivers are selling vaguely new ideas and this just feels like a simple and kind of standard co-op shooter. I appreciate that they aren't pretending that this is going to be some big live-service game they want you playing every day because it absolutely isn't that, this is a game that at best you play for a little bit and then stop and maybe come back when they drop new content if you feel like it, but I feel like with stuff like Helldivers and Space Marine and Darktide around most people probably won't.
