The sexual part is necessary and I think you misundestand art if you don't know why. Tsucc is not just using the story as a vehicle to get away with the fetish stuff, and he's not just inserting it willy-nilly either. He is writing a story that is well and truly born from the world of his imaginations, and that includes his libido. You're mistaken and do not get how shit works if you think there would or even could *be* a Made In Abyss without the weird stuff. Additionally, there is thematic or storytelling justification for virtually all of the ecchi scenes. Yes, even the toilet. Not only would a neutered MIA not be MIA, it wouldn't be a thing at all. The stylus never would have touched the tablet, and again, you don't get it if you're honestly thinking, "Gee, this *could* be good with a few tweaks/cuts." Believe me, Kinema Citrus cut enough.
Going further, Reg x Riko is really no worse than watching something like Moonrise Kingdom and you might genuinely be bitter if their innocent romance disturbs you.
Going even further, I think the whole "story as an excuse to showcase his fetishes" accusation is a pretty shitty way to say, "uses shape language informed by his own aesthetic preferences to create something uniquely his own."
