I like how all these fanboys and shills online are making content about how "$80 is a good deal! Just look at how expensive games were in the 90s!" Like none of us could possibly be old and have lived through it.
Back then we were on the cutting edge where if you were buying some $70 game it likely had extra storage and graphics chips inside. Plus, things advanced like crazy and generations didn't last long, so if you waited a year or two to buy Phantasy Star, or Donkey Kong Country or whatever, it was going to be profoundly cheaper by then. These days I would be very surprised if 7 years from now Nintendo isn't still charging $80 for Mario Kart.
There's a ton of other reasons too, but the point is their argument is just retarded.
