People are addicted to patch/update culture and aren't content with letting a game's meta settle for even 4-6 months. There's been very few instances where a game has NEEDED a balance patch for anything more than shaking up the meta in the past decade, and the only one that comes to mind off-hand is ArcSys breaking LabCoat 21's ankles right as majors were starting to ban her.

I feel like half the fun of games is sharing your love for it with other people.
