I honestly can't imagine self-inserting as Shinji. Misato is my waifu, she's been my waifu for decades at this point, but I always just picture dating her as myself, not putting myself in Shinji's pace.

I don't tend to self-insert as a general rule, and in particular I just can't imagine why you'd want to see yourself as Shinji Ikari. I mean, Jesus Christ, have some self-respect.
