Unironically a fad of its time that you could say was lightning in a bottle, it extended the life of the Gameboy with its dual versions with exclusive monsters which encouraged trading and having friends, its tapped into other mediums such as Trading Cards, Plushies and other Merchandise as well as a hugely successful Anime, its only beloved today due to those who grew up with it and have nostalgia for it. They only care about it because it affiliated with Nintendo. It will never reach the same level of quality it once had. It’s time for a new generation of monster collecting to rise and carry on that torch.
