You won’t know until you try it honestly. Some people love it but others don’t. Personally it’s very good, but it takes until the second or third game to get going. Don’t let blight be the only game you play from the series, since it’s the roughest by far. A given, since it’s the first game.

Here’s my take on meta in each game, I’d like to see other opinions too
>blight
As you said, Royal Bind + Queen’s Heel is pretty OP. Joker is also OP because of Soul Copy. And the Sword-Shaped Key guardian accessory can let you become immortal with the right setup.

There’s no clear meta aside from Lec being the best party member in the game, but Nazuna and Sheila are the best damage dealers by far, and Nosh is the best tank. Pirila is still great for the superboss though because of her crit immunity passive. Everyone else is plenty usable, I haven’t really seen anyone use Alma at all though. She’s way too limited because of her TP based skills when everyone else uses SP.

The most popular strategy is Auris’s fat stunlocking knight build, putting Toiler’s Brand on her to abuse Ice Jail and Armored Blow for tons of free turns via bind and stun. Armored Blow still does full damage since it’s DEF based. On top of that, she can use Intercept + Guard or Cure Shield to tank for partywide attacks.
>Asylum
No clear meta in this game aside from Malice unga bunga physical builds. Her bind and stuns are nice too.

Yolnaya’s unga bunga combo of Wild Life + Charge + High Fury is the strongest thing in the game by a long shot. Stick Plamia Hearts on her.
>Innocent Rules
I don’t have too much experience with messing around with the full cast, but as far as I know, the strongest party member is the Unidentified. She just gets a crazy amount of passive ATK buffs on top of having a really powerful genesis stone skill.
