The commercial aired the first the day before the music video for the song was released.
Estimates are it was viewed by 250 million people world wide.
There was a huge outcry from Christian groups including the Pope about the heresy in the music video and a boycott on Pepsi and it's subsidiaries was called for.
Pepsi caved and removed the AD.
