Hm. Now that I think of it, the narrative "problems" with Undyne are probably part of why the lawful stupid paladin became so common. Kinda hard to mine drama out of a character who, by definition, is intentionally modelling themselves after a moral ideal. Undyne's story lacks the spicy drama people eat up because she's self-aware and easily able to admit that she made a mistake. That said, these traits are what make her so appealing, so eh.
