The main reason we move out so early here isn't because we hate our family or anything. It's because of education.
Most universities are located in select "student cities" and towns. Most people don't live near enough to commute. So moving out at 17-18 and getting a student flat or room is our only option if we want to get educated.
And once you're done with your education, people rarely move back home since live has moved on. People make new friends, girl/boyfriends and just leaving that to go back and live in your childhood room makes zero sense.
So people get a job, they find a place to live and eventually move again when careers and family life gets going.

Also, 50% of Swedes live in apartments. That includes families. It's is not uncommon for parents to move to a smaller place once the kids move out. So often there's nothing to move back to anyway.
