See, that scene is progress for Berdly.... but his behaviour is still unbelievably cringe. Rather than liking Susie for being a good friend, hardworking, brave, self-sacrificing, protecting others, putting herself in danger for a good cause etc.. he's instead whiplashing from "ew, SUSIE" to "OOOHHHHH MY GODDESSSS mwah mwah" because of one video game? This is clueless stuff, and essentially a symptom of Berdly worshipping his own taste moreso than liking Susie for any intrinsic traits. It's unsurprising that Berdly continues to be cringe thereafter, even whiling having improved in certain respects like resisting Queen and rallying together the Darkners, all cool stuff which he could have done earlier if he wasn't a prat for so long.
