Well to be fair this isn't a remake of TOS it is a prequel. The problem with SNW isn't they're using some minor characters from TOS. The problem is it is terrible TV in every possible way. The only thing the show has going for it is Anson Mount is generally a likeable actor. But that will only take you so far with dialog and writing like this(every episode is filled with at least 30 minutes of it).
