Honestly wtf was up with the voyager ending? 7 seasons to not even fucking land on the planet, maybe get an epilogue of where everybody ends up? Abysmal.

>>212801606Oh that Enterprise endingโฆand no I donโt consider it to be an epilogue so as to be viewed more favorably. Rushed, sloppy, nonsense. Itโs like they had a vague idea of what they wanted to do over the next 3 seasons and tried to cram as many of those ideas as possible into an episode. Iโd love to know what they were snorting and how much when they came up with the riker idea. Terribly lazy.
>>212801763Fair but I never thought the whole thing took place in the holodeck. I just thought it was a one episode device to cram in the next three years of shit they had roadmapped
>>212801401>hand blown off in WW2>has 3 kids with 10/10 wife>leaves wife to fuck and marry a 17 year old fan>puts another 4 kids in her>becomes an alcoholic and morbidly obese>dieswhat was his problem?

>>212802043There were a lot of theories about

>>212802082I would say the first one is an excellent drunk movie. Sober, it's merely watchable. The other two can easily be missed.
>>212802095I got the opposite impression. By inserting Enterprise into a TNG episode they essentially made it a solid part of Trek canon.

>>212802805Realistically there's no way the crew doesn't mutiny on janeway when she tries to destroy the catapult
>>212803084I'm not so sure about that. They were a brand new crew so they barely knew each other. Mutinies happens when the crew have time to voice complaints to each other and let resentment build up enough that they band together to take over. It's unlikely that someone would have stepped forward to usurp their captain without already knowing they would be supported by others.
>>212803084>>212803246worst case scenario is kino
>>212803328True, it's a legit 9/10 and probably the closest we'll ever get to a great mutiny Trek story.
>>212800938Changelings being treated as something special when one of them had already kicked the shit out of Worf and another almost fucked Wesley.
>>212803246That's half the problem there, she isn't even their captain for half of them, and the other half just met her. She's openly talking about stranding them in borg space so the kazon can't use the catapult, even though they just met the kazon and they'll probably fuck the catapult before they figure out how to use it. It doesn't matter if they have time to coordinate, there's no chance someone like Paris doesn't just say fuck no when he's told to die for nothing like that. She'd have Tuvok with her and maybe Harry. Chakotay in particular would have tomahawked her. Hell the Maquis get back and they've got a brand new barely used Intrepid class now.
>>212803408I think if you believe any of what you just wrote then you aren't very good at characterization.
>>212800938I don't know if it's an error really, but it bugs me the changelings and the not-engineers weren't the same people. Same actress, mostly the same look, the founders are the generic engineering people, it's all right there.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14101815/Star-Trek-James-Doohan-finger-D-Day.html
Been watching Lower Decks, after powering through the first season where black girl who's name I forget was an insufferable Mary Sue, it was alright, they really leaned on the misunderstanding that get resolved near the end of the episode formula though.
Most importantly, why is T'lyn so likeable and hot?
Trill girl is a runner up.
>>212804658>After surviving the hellish landing, Doohan took out two snipers and led his men through a field of anti-tank mines, but ironically, it was not the enemy who would cause him a life-changing injury.Based, imagine what he would do to the cartoon trannies. Suicide Squad Scottie taking no prisoners.
>>212804749The lack of men like this in the room is the biggest issue the IP has. It's HR women, not men who understand professionalism in the face of danger. Hence that nuTrek scene of the smarmy woman dismissing the male officer, you know the one
>>212804801Well guys that created TOS fought in multiple wars and even the actors saw some action, like Doohan. And then at least Gene was alive at the very start of TNG to impress upon people how things should initially be, the air of military formality on the bridge being integral, the professionalism, etc. And then that was passed down through Berman Trek, becoming a bit more diluted with every iteration.
But now it's just a bunch of TV people. Nobody understands how people should talk on a Trek show -- it's the same boring post-ironic dialogue you see in everything else these days. Everyone is too interested in being droll to actually say anything they care about with sincerity and earnestness.

>>212802082JJ cannot make a movie better than a 7/10 and the first JJ trek film is probably a 4 or 5, which is where the series peaked. It's ok if you don't think too hard or actually care about Star Trek
The second one is trying to be Wrath of Khan with no right to do so. At one point Khan reveals his name all dramatically while in the brig, clearly intended for the audience to be like "oh yeah we know who Khan is" but the characters are literally just staring at him blankly because nobody in that timeline knows who the fuck he is, TOS never happened, there's no history between him and Kirk like in Wrath... It's just key jangling with an absolutely retarded plot, and the whole film like a case study in everything wrong with reboots.
I never watched the third one.

Wow I am so happy star trek is back.
Is DS9 more rewatchable than TNG? TNG is my favourite Trek but I've watched DS9 more than TNG.
TNG best ep: The Measure of a Man (extended cut)
DS9 best ep: In The Pale Moonlight
>>212807719episodic will always be more rewatchable.

>>212807832Its because VOY being the most rewatchable Star Trek series is a given.
>>212807874It's the most rewatchable because you watch one episode then say "that's it I'm done"
What was the director trying to convey with this scene?
>>212807976incompetence and incontinence
>>212807719The only Trek less rewatchable than DS9 is ENT

>>212807719I have to contrarian about Pale Moonlight. Everyone cites this episode but it's like the death of Federation ideals. If you like what Star Trek is supposed to stand for, you should be appalled by Pale Moonlight.
>>212809258About the only episode that immediately comes to mind being worse about that sort of thing is the one where Sisko goes full retard over Eddington
>>212809365Yeah they really handwaved that shit. He attacked a planet and made it uninhabitable. It bothered me how DS9 handled the Maquis at the end. It was just casually mentioned in an episode that the Dominion wiped them out. It's like uhh shouldn't that have caused the Federation to go to war? The Eddington stuff just was bizarre. Granted, it was a great twist at first.

Then Voyager comes along, the scale between warps 9 and 10 go haywire, and warp 10 becomes infinite.

>>212811975cool their are daily sopranos threads go their

>>212809403What really pushed that episode over the line from merely awful to contemptible was that it doesn't any with any acknowledgement that what Sisko did was wrong or he crossed the line, it ends with Dax laughing it up and treating the Federations morality as a joke.
>>212812198its not THAT bad, they declared war on federation they get war'd on (peacefully)
>>212812244Sisko has a near screeching meltdown on the bridge screaming at his people to poison gas a civilians colony and the most reaction it gets out of the entire crew is like a momentary frown before doing it without question
It's no surprise the same guy wrote In the Pale Moonlight, and the DS9 guys were responsible for that wretched scene in First Contact where Beverley (of all people) drops that clunker of a line about how once a Captain gives an order no matter how stupid it is it's too be followed without question
>>212812042Data shouldnโt count because he doesnโt experience fatigue.
>Why canโt my husband last as long as the FuckBot 5,000?
>>212812339sisko was right to gas the civilians though
No wonder they aired two episodes of SNW instead of one, Episode 2 feels much more like a season opener than the actual Ep 1 does
>>212812198Dax was always joking about everything, but yeah that especially tasteless. I'm still dwelling on Pale Moonlight because it's a Starfleet captain basically just accepting that he doesn't care about the most important things about the federation and then that's one thing, but then fans who proclaim to like Trek, they call this the best episode of the series. People can shit on nuTrek but DS9 has more in common with nuTrek than it does with TOS TNG or VOY. In my opinion that and then Section 31 are responsible for everything that was done wrong in nuTrek. Kurtzman is a scapegoat for what began on DS9.
Worf fucks Troi and Jadzia. Don't you think its weird that like two different species hole matches a completely different species key? Like biologically it doesn't seem like fucking an alien would be realistic. Cardassians gotta have fucked up looking dicks ain't no way they having sex with humans.
>>212812418you can't blame ds9 for shitting on the federation problems that tng introduced.
>>212812418The funny thing about people constantly whining about current era Trek is it unambiguously treats Section 31 as a bad thing, which DS9 did not do
>>212812418what sisko did is not shown as being a good thing, its about the compromises made in war, 31 is most definitely not shown as good in any sense
>>212812469The whole point of DS9 was grey morality. Nothing was treated as bad or good until the end when Dukat was possessed by satan or some wild shit I can't remember I waked and baked.
>>212812454humanoids all basically have the same structure though
stands to reason that cocks and cunts would be reasonably similar too
>>212812469>current era Trek unambiguously treats Section 31 as a bad thing, Are you kidding? It treats S31 as a bunch of girl boss ass-kicking mercenaries
>>212812467No, the Maquis episodes of TNG definitely should've been resolved better, without it escalating into this huge issue of questioning the entire federation. It's like the SW prequels. People now complain about "the Jedi" when before it was so much better. Just Obi Wan Yoda and Luke. The prequels ruined so much. Taking their storylines at face value and then deciding to root for the Empire is madness. In some cases you SHOULD throw out the baby with the bathwater. I'm not defending TNG in my posts because I don't hold it in the high esteem that some people do. It's good, but TOS is better.
>entire show is about moral ambiguity
>final fight is Bajoran religion good vs evil
That is a wild decision right there. Well at least they didn't end the show with a cut to black.
>>212812522and the greyer it got, the better it became
In S6E4 (Behind the Lines) where Odo links with the female changeling and it ends up getting Rom the death penalty after he's captured trying to sabotage the mine defusers, and then Odo tells Kira "idgaf bitch, I linked. that's more important" - I almost coomeed.
Redeemed bad character being good is fun but good character becoming bad is virgin snow territory. It was so exciting.
Same goes for all shows really. Game of Thrones was fun when it was greyer at the start but by the end it was Jesus vs Satan which all shitty written shows collapse into inevitably.
>>212812520Yeah, and my argument is that in Star Trek they should be above having to make evil compromises due to war. They should have found a way to write it BETTER. Its lazy sloppy writing and it hurts all of trek. Voyager comes out unscathed ironically because they were half a galaxy away and couldn't get corrupted by the idiocy.
The best part about section 31 in DS9 is that we the audience are never really sure it even exists. It's not an official branch but it could just as easily be some crime organization or fucking romulan spies again or something. It's a fucking spook story.
>>21281263295% of the time they did manage to find another solution this was one of the very very few times they didn't, thats why the episode is so highly regarded its the exception rather then the rule, also using Voyager as any kind of example of moral high ground is truly hilarious
>>212812639Yeah and of course nutrek completely misses the point and makes it an agency for girl bosses
>>212812632I give up, the "Grey and Grimdark is better storytelling because it just is ok" argument has begun and once again true advanced Trek morality will be the first casualty in the name of entertainment.
>>212809258>Anon finds out that utopias aren't utopian out of some magic presence but because a very select few people have to pay a high price to maintain utopiai envy your childlike mindset
>>212812576Even NuTrek people don't defend that shitty tv movie that makes no sense even compared directly to other NuTrek
>>212812676Its about sincerity. Something sincerely grey and dark is better than something cynically light hearted.
>>212812678It's all fiction, dipwad. You can choose to write a functioning utopia if you want to. It's just choices made by Jewish writers in their imaginations. Star Trek TOS is still relevant because they dared to explore a true utopia. If you want Grimdark go literally everywhere else it's been done to death. My mindset is 100x more advanced than yours, so you should envy it.

>>212812755In other news I might start posting my thoughts about this season of SNW just to spite you faggots. Episode 2 is silly but God damn it's so refreshing to hear classical whimsical music. It's like, "oh that's right, that's what happiness feels like."

>>212807976how the fuck do you have all this fancy nonsense and then say this is 10 years before Captian Kirk's 5 year mission?
Why couldn't they have just set it in the future, beyond TNG-DS9-VOY years?
Enterprise did such a good job making it look shitty enough vs other Treks but still futuristic from our POV.
Then SNW/DIS just shits all over that beccause they don't care.
>>212812975based 30 rock fan
>>212812674NuTrek had S31 as the villains of an entire season of tv, showed they were completely misguided, not competent, frequently malicious and caused more harm directly to Starfleet and the Federation than any good their supposed defense did. They achieve nothing. Hell a person from the Mirror Universe even looked at them and said "fuck this I'm out" and joined a ship overbearingly earnest Starfleet dorks opposing them instead.
This is counter to DS9 where they were hyper competent, their actions integral to the survival of the entire Alpha Quadrant, their actions given tactic approval and protection by Starfleet proper, and the worst thing said about them was that they gave some characters the ick. Note they became the Doctors project instead of the Captain because that guy would be right at fucking home in the org with the Hard Man Making Hard Decisions crap they end up doing with him.
The Section 31 'movie' is nonsensical. Treating them as some kind of Suicide Skwad doesn't fit with anything, it doesn't even make sense for the two main characters that join it in that thing to do so from everything we know of them either

So did episode 2 all but confirm that Trelaine is a Q? The bartender wedding planner character fucking nailed his Trelaine impression and then his dad was voiced by John DeLancie. Oh right, nuTrek isn't canon. I still think Trelaine was something like a Q.
>>212813546I've got my mission woman
>>212813546I take it out.
>>212813579Not everything has to be connected. Yes, in fan circles they always assume that Trelane is a Q but that's stupid and contrived. There are varying levels of powerful beings in the Trekverse. Trelane needed his "mirror machine" to supplement his powers. Q use the power of will alone.
