"Why" is extremely important in Sherlock's and Poirot's mysteries. In fact there's a certain Christie novel I absolutely love cause I actually guessed it based on the motive, figuring out the killer in that one was 90% motive.
I don't know what "health" of the world you're talking about but detectives are there to pick up the pieces of a tragedy that's already happened and piece it back together for justice. Famous detectives like Holmes show plenty of sympathy and care, but they can't restore what's lost. They can't do anything but find the truth, avenge the victim and protect who's left because they can't use magic to put people back together.

Like I always say, if you just want the ending I believe very very strongly that it's been spoiled. Nakao Boushi is a huge Higu fan, he was credited as Ciconia's director. He wrote MYTH which is like a love-letter for old WTC. It takes a lot of meta twists and turns and ends up overlapping with Ciconia incredibly closely at the end.

Though you can probably easily guess what is happening with the stuff you get form shitsugou and the factory.
