I've been trying to give it the benefit of the doubt in this regard but the trailer just looks like same direct to streaming aesthetic that's been popular in the last decade. Adding on to that literally all of the jokes and memes that made up Homestuck's aesthetic were completely absent from the pilot.
it is a bit of a nitpick but replacing his Dad's PDA with a flip phone irks me

Looking through the trailer for details and noticed John using a flip phone instead of PDA like in the comic
