"Zodiark Trance" comes from a goofy comic an ESL made and uploaded to one of the XIV subreddits where Warrior of Light awakens to his memories as Azem and decides to join Team Zodiark out of sympathy for the Ascian cause (something Azem was explicitly stated to not do) and runs down to the planet's core to kill Hydaelyn believing he's been lied to and manipulated. It is a direct response to, and ignores the vast majority of, Endwalker's story to peddle the author's own fanfiction which is sourced in anger/disappointment that Endwalker did not make Hydaelyn an evil character as was very vaguely implied by the game simply casting doubts on her behavior and actions.
More specifically, Zodiark Trancers as we know them on the internet are essentially what became of Garlemald sympathizers on the game's official forums, who easily and swiftly transferred over to being Ascian and Zodiark sympathizers when Shadowbringers began casting them in a sympathetic, but still villainous light. There was a write-up by an Emet-Selch avatarfag on /vrpg/ that I don't have handy at the moment, who infiltrated a Discord server populated by trancers after recruitment campaigns on Twitter and Youtube comments. His findings were essentially as described above, that trancers are just Garlean holdouts who believe the Ascian puppet nation got a fair shake and have divested that energy off to Ascians and were, as the kids say, "shook" that Hydaelyn wasn't a bad woman, the Ascians were still pretty evil regardless of their stated noble intentions, and Zodiark itself is a brainless god puppet. Hence the comic which just ignores enormous swathes of the game.
Most of the known ones are European, speak poor or little English. It's a general term for trolls that use /v/ as a playground, but there's evidence that the sorry and spammy behavior of XIV threads in the past few years is because of, chiefly, between one and five trancers that have been here since Asmongold's stream days.
