On a technical level it improves on some aspects but on others it's kind of lacking.
Design wise we have had decent artistically design models and lighting since PS2. That's because they were exactly taking inspiration from 3d animated movies of the time.

There's no competition when it comes to the most comfy Zelda towns.
Skyward sword might have a lot of faults but skyloft is the most comfy town ever.
That goes for Nintendo during the frutiger aero era.
