Keep in mind it was the Athena senate that kill Socrates because he was corrupting youth with his ideas of internal monologues and free thought. Hell iirc your very pic is the Roman senate agreeing to what would be their very downfall, and here you use it as a means to ask why it went wrong.
Perhaps the error is the very theory of intellectualism, that knowledge is wholly or mainly derived from pure reason/rationalism is nothing but a coping lie to deal with the chaos of our biology.

You're right that trying to 'kill' another ideal with a negative like "love TRUMP's hate" is futile, because the bigger ideal just grows stronger from it, but in this case I think some ideas are weak to sunlight.
The title "Stop Killing Games" raises the question to someone who's unaware, "what? games are being killed? How? By Whom?" while "Keep Games Alive" doesn't imply any villain and can be about loads of other things. EA and other companies would rather people forget about live service shutoffs, they don't want attention from governments which exactly what a campaign like this does.
tl;dr: some magic is stronger in the dark, but it can be KILLED with sunlight.
