My relationship to god is complex. Imagine having a friend that just has done a lot of bad things to you for a long time but you still consider him to be your friend because you've known him for a very long time. That's essentially my relationship to god. I don't hate him, I just think that he's an asshole sometimes. Well, not only just sometimes, most of the time I consider him to be an asshole. I stick with him, though. It just feels like we've known eachother for so long that breaking it off with him would be way too much effort on my part and I can't be bothered to do it. I just wish he wasn't a dick, but he is.

He's been really good to me in a lot of different ways, I just expected him to have been equally as good to specific people as well, but that was not the case. I can't actually complain about anything because I've been given a lot. But he's not very nice to people that aren't me. I feel like I should consider him a dick because of the things he does to other people. He's good to me, but not as good to others. I just wish I could have had some type of influence over the things he does to others, but I have none and it is all up to him to decide. So I feel like he is not that nice because of the things he did to others. It would definitely have been some type of abusive relationship if he was evil towards me, but he's been good to me, just not as good to others.

I just have qualms about his decisions. What I said earlier is still relevant, though, since he strained our relationship by making some decisions towards people I considered to not have deserved being treated the way they were. Personal losses and such. I can still consider him to be a dick towards me based on what he did to those close to me, people that didn't deserve what they went through. I don't think it actually works like the fundamentalist's imply. If God is pure unified being, love and order, then to be connected to him you would have to resonate with that. If you don't then you would be resonating with something else. The way you are posing this is highly reactive to religious dogmatism.
