Your skills and stat distribution must be worse. Never forget that career gives +400 stats (other than wit) to every Uma and so outside of career, you need 400 more stam or equivalent recovery skills to make it in a race of the same distance. Extra Tank and Deep Breaths don't even work outside of Long, but my Rudolf has Maestro and enough stam that she can do without them in a Medium.
I also run her as a late surger to more reliably activate her unique. Speed is always good, but it's not as important for a late surger/end chaser as it is for a frontrunner.

I went three for three with my B tier late surger Rudolf. Two of which involved overtaking Spe when she was in the lead after the final corner, so not boxed in.
I'm convinced that all the people who complain about late/end getting boxed in are just bakashins who don't train navigation skills or power for overtaking on the final corner.
