Alright, "rannis ending doesn't lead to nightreign copers" and "heolstor doesnt have the dmgs" copers. And "ranni isn't caligo" copers.
You miss major things.
1. Rennala was the first carian queen.
"In her youth, Rennala was a prominent champion who charmed the academy with her lunar magic, becoming its master. She also led the Glintstone Knights and established the house of Caria as royalty."
2. The Japanese text doesn't use tradition for the gifting of moonlight greatswords. The description in a literal translation says "The greatsword of the moon that successive queens of kaalia gift to their spouses"
The kanji for successive thats uses is rekidai which in terms of modern Japanese is used in future tense rather than past tense. Meaning, since this thread takes japanese text over ENG text, then the moonlight greatswords were only created twice, not an unknown amount of times before, and if ranni had a kid and that kid had a husband shed give a similar sword away. Not that ranni is following some lady in the lake tradition of handing out swords to spouses. It started with rennala and only continued with ranni.

Its literally because ranni didnt want to take the mantle. Rennala is the first and last of her line.
3. Caligos japanese description
Almost completely different from her ENG one, it directly implying she was once a divine being and wasn't a born dragon
Thus. Heolstor is the tarnished or a tarnished standin. Upon defeating and communing with bayle he began transforming into him, this was eventually stopped by ranni who took the ecennse into herself(hinted at with her hat having caligos eye on it) transforming her into caligo, losing most of her sense of self and divinity. Whats left of her divinity went into her spouse who, in his grief returned to the world in hopes of finding a cure for her so their age could continue, but was struck down and called upon the night to doom the world.
