Tbf no one could have predicted this back then i believe, especially not from the global reserve currency. Even today, even if most people know about the concept and how it affect them, they are having a hard time to make moves to protect themselves against it. And worse : most don't even feel the need to protect themselves. My financially illiterate mom is exactly in that group, never invested in anything, always kept all her fiat in the same zero dividend bank account for the past 60 years. Each time i talk about gold, she tells me she's afraid she wont be able to get money from it if she need to sell lol. The brainwashing is total.
When i show her all the cash she saved from the 1980s sleeping on her bank account have been devalued by 95% all i get is the dead fish stare. She can't wrap her mind about the fact she got stolen all these years of hard work.
