I will be in the minority and say that most if not all action games would be more fun, especially on higher difficulties, if you had your full movelist unlocked.
NOTE I DID NOT SAY FULL METERS/HP, just moves. Having Run/Double jumped locked behind a store, and different weapons in the case of DMC 3, was retarded. In fact a lot of the RPG elements in 3 were dropped, with stores being the carry over.
NGB/S accounts and is balanced around shops and essence, DMC 1 on Normal does but it also expects NG+ for harder modes. Locking WEAPONS is fine imo, locking NINPO or skill equivalences are fine.

When Mario Maker 1 had babymetal, chitoge and arino back then i was thinking to myself "imagine if more companies did cross promos with more than just japanese games". Unironically wish Arino had more exposure in the west outside of the shitty dub of a few episodes.
